Consideration of Transfer of Property to the Commonwealth of Virginia to Accommodate a Department of Juvenile Justice Facility

At its Special Called meeting on January 23, 2019, the Economic Development Authority adopted a motion to convey 20 acres of property located in Phase III of the Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park to the Board of Supervisors.  The Board of Supervisors is considering a request to convey said property to the Commonwealth of Virginia for the purpose of siting a facility to house up to 60 juveniles sentenced to the custody of the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice.

The budgetary impact is $500,000.  The County is also offering property valued at approximately $200,000.

Adopt a motion to accept 20 acres of property in Phase III of the Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park from the Economic Development Authority, transfer said property to the Commonwealth of Virginia, and authorize execution of all appropriate documents necessary to transfer said property.
