The County has previously undertaken efforts to acquire a Nike Ajax missile, booster, and launcher; however, the mobilization, transportation and siting of the missile, booster, and launcher requires specialized care and expertise.
The Virginia Military Preservation Association (VMPA) offered its expertise and skills to transport the missile, booster, and launcher from its former location in Hampton to its current location at Nike Park.
The Board may wish to recognize the VMPA and specific individuals (Lee Barlow, Walter Winget, Adrian Winget, Marc Meisner, David Barlow and Jared Brown) for their efforts.
